Women of the Bible – Day 5: Rebekah

One thing I’ve noticed about myself is that I don’t mind trusting God… until I have to wait.

I’m usually pretty good at saying, “God, I’ll follow wherever You lead.”

It’s the part that comes after that’s hard.

The waiting.

The uncertainty.

Not knowing how He’s going to work everything out.

That’s why Rebekah’s story felt so familiar to me.

The first time we meet her, she’s incredibly brave. She leaves her home, her family, and everything she’s ever known to marry a man she’s never even met.

She simply says,

“I will go.”

I love that.

But as I kept reading, I realized something changed.

God had already told Rebekah that the older son would serve the younger. His plan had already been spoken.

Yet when the time came, she stepped in and tried to make it happen herself.

Reading that made me uncomfortable… because I’ve done the same thing.

This season of my life has been full of change. There have been moments where everything felt uncertain, and I found myself wanting to know exactly what God was doing before I was willing to take the next step.

I wanted answers.

I wanted a plan.

I wanted to see the whole picture before moving forward.

But that’s not usually how faith works.

That’s what Rebekah reminded me of.

Sometimes we believe God’s promises…

We just struggle to trust His process.

The hard part is that taking control doesn’t always look like rebellion. Sometimes it looks responsible. It looks like planning ahead, figuring things out, or trying to make sure everything works out the way we think it should.

But Rebekah’s story reminded me that God’s plans don’t need me to force them into place.

They need me to trust Him enough to keep saying, “I will go,” even when I don’t know where the road leads next.

And honestly…

That’s the kind of faith I’m praying for in this season.
