Women of the Bible – Day 16: Esther

Esther’s story made me think about how many times I’ve looked at my life and wondered why God allowed certain things to happen or why He placed me in certain places.

Looking back now, I can see that some of the seasons I didn’t understand were preparing me.

Esther became queen before she knew her people would need her. She was already in position before she understood the purpose behind the position.

I feel like I’m learning that in my own life.

There have been doors I didn’t understand closing and new ones opening that I never expected. There have been difficult seasons that changed me, stretched me, and taught me things I probably wouldn’t have learned any other way.

And now I can look back at some of it and see God differently.

Maybe it wasn’t all random.

Maybe some of it was preparation.

What I love about Esther is that when her moment came, she was still afraid. Being chosen didn’t suddenly make her fearless.

She prayed. She fasted. She prepared. She waited for the right timing.

And then she found the courage to speak.

That speaks to where I am in life right now.

I don’t feel like I need to know everything God is doing anymore. I’m learning to trust that if He placed me somewhere, there is a reason for it.

Even with She’s Wild & Worthy, I don’t know exactly what God is going to do with it. I just know I felt called to start sharing.

My story.

My faith.

The things I’m learning.

The woman God is helping me become.

And maybe that’s enough for right now.

Esther reminds me that purpose isn’t always something we immediately recognize. Sometimes God prepares the woman first, places her where she needs to be, and reveals the reason later.

So I’m learning to stop asking God to show me the entire story before I’m willing to trust Him.

Maybe I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Maybe the things I’ve survived have prepared me.

Maybe the doors that closed redirected me.

Maybe the doors that opened positioned me.

And maybe some of what God has placed inside of me was meant for more than just me.

I don’t know what my “such a time as this” moment will look like.

But I want to be ready when it comes.
