There have been times in my life when I prayed and prayed, and God felt quiet.

And silence is hard for me.

I’m a fixer. I want to know the plan, what we’re doing next, and how I’m going to get from where I am to where I need to be.

But there have been seasons when God didn’t give me that.

And I still had to trust Him.

That’s what makes me connect with the Canaanite woman.

She came to Jesus desperate for her daughter, and at first, He didn’t answer her.

She could have walked away.

Then the disciples wanted her gone.

She could have walked away again.

Instead, she moved closer.

“Lord, help me.”

I understand that prayer.

Some of the most important prayers I’ve prayed haven’t been long or beautiful. They’ve simply been:

God, help me.

When I didn’t know how I was going to fix something.

When money didn’t make sense.

When a door closed and I didn’t know what was next.

When I was carrying so much and still trying to figure out how to keep everything moving.

Lord, help me.

And somehow, He always has.

Not always the way I pictured it. Not always when I wanted Him to. But He has.

Then this woman says:

“Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

She knew even the crumbs were enough because she knew Who they were coming from.

And I think God has been teaching me something similar.

I don’t always need the whole plan.

Sometimes He gives me enough for today.

Enough peace for today.

Enough provision for today.

Enough direction for the next step.

Yesterday, we saw a woman reach for the hem of His garment.

Today, we see a woman willing to take the crumbs.

Just the hem.

Just the crumbs.

Both understood something I’m still learning:

I don’t need God to show me the next five years before I trust Him.

I just need Jesus.

And when God feels quiet, I don’t want to assume that means I should walk away.

I want to move closer.

Lord, help me.

And if all I can see right now are crumbs, I’ll trust that they’re enough.

Because they came from Him
